Nicholas Radina

Biography

Nicholas Radina was raised just outside of Cincinnati in Milford, OH. He began playing music at age 8 and started playing professionally at age 13. After a brief scholarship stint at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, he returned to Cincinnati to continue working with his first professional R&B band, Out Of The Blue. Soon after, Nicholas co-founded an Afro-Caribbean Cincinnati group called Bailando Desnudo, playing guitar, cuatro, percussion and singing. He has been a solid influence on the local Latin music scene ever since.

For Tropicoso, Nick replaced Orlando Torres on timbales when Orlando moved back to his hometown in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Nick’s contributions have since gone far beyond his role as percussionist. Just about all of the design and artwork on the Tropicoso website is the work of Mr. Radina, and his skill and experience in the realm of publicity have afforded the band numerous television and radio appearances.

Locally, Nick also performs with ¡Zumba! (a band which he founded and features his tremendous talent as a Cuatro player) Salsa Caliente and Salsa Brava. Beyond his local musical experiences, Nicholas has shared the stage with Yomo Toro, Larry Harlow, Dr. Loco & The Rockin Jalepeños (San Francisco), Echo Beach (San Francisco), Grupo Niche, Gran Combo and Puerto Rican Power.
